Todd Wilson
Teacher of the Year 2021-2022 is the Band Director at Elkins Pointe Middle School in Roswell Georgia. He has had many roles in District V the past eight years. He has coordinated Large Group Performance Evaluation for Middle School for seven years and before that for five years in District XI for High School. He has coordinated Percussion for All State Band in both middle and high school for twelve years. Mr. Wilson has also worked with the coordination of middle and high school District Honor Band event and auditions in both District XI and V for eighteen years in various capacities. Mr. Wilson has served as a Teacher Selector for Fulton County Schools and currently serves as Department Chair for Connections at EPMS. Prior to his time in Fulton County Mr. Wilson graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in music education in 2000 and Magna Cum Master's degree in music education in 2002. Mr. Wilson completed his Education Specialist degree in Music from Auburn University in 2006 graduating Magna Cum Laude. He is married to Mrs. Wendy Entrekin Wilson, Band Director at Autrey Mill Middle School, and has two wonderful step children Morgan and Kalen. While attending The University of Georgia, Mr. Wilson performed with the UGA Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Symphonic Band, Men's Glee Club, UGA Steel Drum Band, UGA Drumline and Indoor Drumline. Mr. Wilson conducted one of the collegiate concert bands as a graduate assistant. Mr. Wilson is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, an honorary music fraternity, and of Kappa Kappa Psi, a national honorary band service fraternity. Mr. Wilson served as state secretary for CMENC. He has been nominated for the Who’s Who among Band Directors. He has a National Band Directors Citation of Excellence Award for a performance at Troy State University when he was assistant director at Houston County High School in 2009. Mr. Wilson has also been nominated for Teacher of the year four times in his career and was a school finalist in 2019 at Elkins Pointe Middle School. He was also nominated four times for the Atlanta Families Award. Mr. Wilson started his career at Houston County in 2002 as the assistant director of bands of a program that had 350 students, 4 concert bands, a jazz band, and two marching bands. In his time at HCHS he helped them achieve a high level of excellence. The students regularly made superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluations, District Honor Band, All State band, and All Region Band. In 2011 Mr. Wilson made the move to Elkins Pointe Middle School as the Head Director. The program has doubled in size in the past several years to 350 students. The students have continually made superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluations and other music Competitions in Georgia and Florida. The EPMS Band has had many students make District Honor Band and All State band under Mr. Wilson’s instruction. The Band has traveled to Florida to compete and placed no lower than 3rd in any contest it has participated. EPMS Band students have gone on to their respective High Schools of Milton and Roswell and have been very success band students! |
Myah Dickerson is the assistant band director at Elkins Pointe Middle School in Roswell, Georgia. Myah is from Cherokee county, where she was the music director at Lyndon Academy. There, she directed band and choir ensembles and taught general music courses to JK-12. She has also worked with many high school ensembles, such as Cass Middle School, Cass High School, and North Paulding High School.
Before teaching, Myah attended Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia to obtain her Bachelors degree in Music Education. There, she was involved in numerous ensembles including, wind ensemble, jazz band, pit orchestra, marching band, and clarinet choir. Currently She is obtaining her Master's degree in Conducting from Georgia State University. Outside of the classroom, Myah enjoys playing with her cat and gardening. |
